Clorinda Donato

Clorinda Donato is an American scholar of French and Italian. She is Professor of Italian and French at California State University, Long Beach, where she holds the George L. Graziadio Chair of Italian Studies and directs the university's centre for global Romance languages and translation studies. Her work covers eighteenth-century encyclopedias and knowledge transfer through translation, gender in medical and literary writing, and intercomprehension across the Romance languages. Her books include The Life and Legend of Catterina Vizzani (2020) and the textbook Juntos: Italian for Speakers of English and Spanish (2020). She was made Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques in 2005 and received the CSULB Outstanding Professor Award in 2016. For Skomlin she edited and wrote the preface to The Secret Child (2018), Laurence Moscato's translation of Jean-Michel Olivier's L'Enfant secret.
