Wladyslaw Stanislaw Reymont

Wladyslaw Reymont (1867-1925) was a Polish novelist and Nobel laureate (1924), best known for his four-volume epic The Peasants. Born near Kobiele Wielkie, he worked as an actor and a railway official before turning to writing. The Comedienne (1896) draws on his own experience of the provincial theatre.
